About Our IBCLC

Meet Stefanie - BSN, RN, IBCLC & Owner of Milk Medic, LLC

Stefanie is a nursing graduate of The University of Memphis’ Loewenberg College of Nursing, and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She is the owner of Milk Medic.

With over 20 years of experience in the medical field, Stefanie has served in many roles, including unit coordinator, medical assistant, graduate nurse, registered nurse, certified lactation specialist & now as an IBCLC. She has supported countless families on a mother/baby nursing unit, and has provided lactation care across various hospital settings. Stefanie earned her IBCLC credential in 2021 and has been dedicated to private practice ever since.

On a personal note, Stefanie is the mother of three previously breastfed children. Her passion for breastfeeding grew from her own struggles and triumphs throughout her breastfeeding journeys, as well as from the time she spent encouraging and educating new families at the bedside.

Stefanie enjoys camping, cooking, flower gardening, podcast, traveling & quality time with family and friends. In her free time, she is an active member of her local church. She resides just north of Memphis with her husband —U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. retired & Purple Heart recipient —their kids & their Westie fur babies.

About Milk Medic

Milk Medic was founded in 2020 by Shan McLean—a mother, wife, veteran, nurse, & proud "milk whisperer". Shan served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic, which inspired the name Milk Medic. Her passion for helping families through their feeding journeys is rooted in both her personal & professional experience.

The newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three.
