More from Milk Medic...

Meet Shan - BSN, RN, IBCLC & Founder of Milk Medic, LLC

Shan is a nursing graduate of Baptist College of Health Sciences and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic, which inspired the name Milk Medic.

Her healthcare journey began at age 17, when she enlisted in the Army and served for six years. After completing her service, she pursued her nursing degree and has since worked in several hospitals across the Memphis area.

Shan has served as both an inpatient and private practice IBCLC. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of specialties, including inpatient rehabilitation, labor & delivery, mother/baby units, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), pediatric emergency room, and ambulance/transport services.

Her passion for breastfeeding support grew from her own personal struggles, as well as from countless hours spent at the bedside, helping mothers and babies overcome breastfeeding challenges.

Outside of her work, Shan enjoys homeschooling her three children, camping, baking, reading, and caring for her pet chickens. She is married to a fellow U.S. Army veteran, and together they share a deep commitment to service and family.

How Milk Medic began

Our Story

Shan founded Milk Medic in 2019 with a vision to support new mothers through the challenges of breastfeeding. She built a family-centered brand, a strong social media presence, and began serving families right in their homes.

In 2020, Milk Medic became official. Stefanie joined in 2021, just as in-home visits began. Since then, we’ve supported hundreds of mothers, babies, and families across the Mid-South, many through their second and even third feeding journeys.

Milk Medic has grown mainly through word of mouth, reflecting the trust we’ve built in our community. Our care is rooted in advocacy, education, and meeting families where they are.

In January 2024, Stefanie assumed ownership. While leadership has changed, our mission and commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care remain the same.
