Shan is a nursing graduate of Baptist College of Health Sciences and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic, which inspired the name Milk Medic.
Her healthcare journey began at age 17, when she enlisted in the Army and served for six years. After completing her service, she pursued her nursing degree and has since worked in several hospitals across the Memphis area.
Shan has served as both an inpatient and private practice IBCLC. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of specialties, including inpatient rehabilitation, labor & delivery, mother/baby units, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), pediatric emergency room, and ambulance/transport services.
Her passion for breastfeeding support grew from her own personal struggles, as well as from countless hours spent at the bedside, helping mothers and babies overcome breastfeeding challenges.
Outside of her work, Shan enjoys homeschooling her three children, camping, baking, reading, and caring for her pet chickens. She is married to a fellow U.S. Army veteran, and together they share a deep commitment to service and family.
Shan had a deep passion for helping new mothers navigate the challenges of breastfeeding and lactation management. She had a beautiful vision and worked tirelessly to bring it to life. She built a family-centered brand, established a strong social media presence, and—most importantly—began serving clients right in the comfort of their own homes.
Milk Medic was created in 2019 and officially founded in 2020. Stefanie joined the practice in September 2021, shortly after Milk Medic began offering in-home visits to its very first clients.
Since then, we've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of mothers, babies, and families throughout the Greater Memphis Area. We've even been honored to assist many of our established clients on their second—and even third—breastfeeding journeys.
Milk Medic has grown primarily through word of mouth, a testament to the trust we've built within our community. We believe in forming strong, lasting relationships with our clients and their families. Our care is rooted in advocacy, education, and meeting each family where they are in their unique feeding journey.
As our business evolved and roles shifted, Stefanie assumed ownership in January 2024. While we may be under new leadership, our mission, values, and commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care remain unchanged.
