Insurance Options and Self-pay

Option 1: Insurance coverage with The Lactation Network

*Many* insurance plans are accepted through The Lactation Network (TLN). The Lactation Network is an organization that helps provide lactation services to families in need by connecting them with insurance-covered lactation consultations. TLN handles the paperwork and bills your insurance directly. Milk Medic is not involved in the financial arrangements with your insurance provider. If approved for these services, insurance plans may cover up to 6 lactation consultations with no/low out-of-pocket cost to you (client/patient). TLN works with most of the following: 

• BCBS (Illinois), BCBS (Rhode Island) 
• First Health 
• First Choice Health
• Imagine Health 
• Meritain (Certain states)
• Multiplan 
• PNOA
• Sutter Health 
• UHC (HMO & Commercial plans; for in-person consultations only)
• VA CCN plans - Optum East (regions 1-3)
• Velocity

Option 2: Aetna or Tricare

If you have Aetna or Tricare insurance plans, please DO NOT fill out The Lactation Network or Wildflower inquiry form. Milk Medic is able to bill these insurance plans directly, so there is no need to go through a third-party verification process. We kindly ask that you let us know your insurance provider when filling out your contact information.

Option 3: Cigna

Milk Medic is proud to partner with Wildflower Health for Cigna covered lactation visits. If you are a Cigna member, click the link below that says "Wildflower/Cigna" to verify your insurance information. The process is quick and secure, and you’ll receive confirmation of your coverage directly through Wildflower Health. If approved for these services, insurance plans may cover up to 6 lactation consultations.

Option 4: Self-pay

Depending on the terms of your individual health insurance policy, you may be eligible to receive partial or full reimbursement for services rendered. Upon request, a detailed superbill can be provided after your appointment, which you may submit directly to your insurance provider for consideration. Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed and is subject to the specific coverage and out-of-network benefits outlined in your plan.

We accept the following payment methods for self-pay clients:

• Square (accepts all U.S.-issued and most internationally-issued magstripe or chip cards, as well as mobile wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Afterpay)
